Dachshund Town 2018

June 10, 2018

We would like to thank Sam and Kerry, the organisers of Dachshund Town 2018, for allowing the Breed Council to have a stand at the event in Milton Keynes on 9th June. They generously also supplied a hamper for us to raffle in aid of funds for our Charity: Dachshund Health UK.

There were lots of very well-behaved Dachshunds enjoying a day in the sun with fun show classes and other competitions.

We had the opportunity to meet with many owners and offer advice on buying and owning a Dachshund. A few dogs were over-weight and we had discussions about diet and exercise with their owners.

Among the numerous stands, Dachshund Rescue and The Red Foundation both also had a presence and were fundraising for their good causes. Both these rescue organisations are reporting an increase in calls for help and, like us, worry about the over-popularity of Mini Smooths. The current demand is fuelling an increase in illegal imports, puppy farming and breeders jumping on the bandwagon to sell “rare coloured” Dachshunds.

October 25, 2017

national-pet-show-logoThe National Pet Show takes place at the NEC from 4th – 5th November. The star of the show will doubtless be Noel Fitzpatrick but there is a lot to see; dogs, cats, reptiles, ponies and various activities over the weekend.

Dachshund Rescue have been invited to have a stand there, so visit them on stand DB54.
